Version 2026-09-11. Encore Fashion operates from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In this agreement “Encore”, “we” and “us” mean Encore Fashion; “you” means the person reserving the dress.
1. What Encore is
Encore is a marketplace. The dress is sold to you by an individual seller, not by Encore. We verify the seller’s identity, require four photographs of the dress, hold the money until you have it in your hands, arrange the courier, and step in when something goes wrong. We do not own the dress and we do not inspect it in person before it ships.
2. What you pay
- The dress price set by the seller, shown on the listing.
- Tax at the rate shown in the order summary.
- Delivery priced live by the courier for your specific parcel and address, shown in the order summary before you reserve. There is no flat rate. Local pickup has no delivery charge.
Nothing else is added later. The total in the summary is the total you pay.
3. Encore’s commission of 18%
Encore takes a commission of 18% of the dress price from the seller’s share of the sale. It is calculated on the dress price only, never on tax and never on delivery, and it is not added to what you pay. Card processing costs are paid out of that commission. On a $500 dress, Encore’s commission is $90 and the seller receives $410 before their own taxes.
4. Deposit and balance
Reserving a dress charges a deposit of 25% of the order total. The dress comes off the shop at that moment. The remaining balance is due before the dress is sent. If the balance is not paid, the reservation lapses and the dress returns to the shop.
5. Shipping deadline
Once you have paid in full, Encore buys a prepaid courier label and the seller must hand the parcel to the courier within 12 hours. If they do not, the order is cancelled and you are refunded in full, automatically, and told why.
6. Your 24 hour check
When the courier records delivery you have 24 hours to confirm the dress is the dress that was listed. Confirming releases the money to the seller. If you say nothing, the money is released automatically when the 24 hours pass. Opening a claim inside that window holds the money where it is until the claim is decided.
7. Claims, returns and refunds
A claim is reviewed by a person at Encore. The seller is given 48 hours to respond with their own evidence. If the claim is upheld in your favour, you send the dress back with a tracking number, and once the seller confirms it arrived you are refunded the total you paid less a 10% facilitation fee on the dress price. If the claim is not upheld, the money is released to the seller. Full detail lives on the refunds and fees page.
8. How your money is held
Encore is not a bank and does not operate a regulated escrow service. Your card payment is taken by Stripe, our payment processor, and the seller’s share stays undisbursed in Stripe until the conditions above are met. The Encore wallet a seller sees is a transit ledger showing money on its way to their own bank account, not a deposit account.
9. Condition and honesty
Every dress on Encore is preowned. Sellers must describe wear, alterations and repairs honestly and photograph the dress from four angles. A dress that arrives materially different from its listing is grounds for a claim. Ordinary signs of a dress having been worn once, disclosed in the listing, are not.
10. Your responsibilities
- Give a real, complete delivery address. Couriers price and deliver to what you enter.
- Be the person whose card is used, and be at least the age of majority in your province.
- Check the dress promptly and raise a claim inside the 24 hour window if something is wrong.
- Do not ask a seller to transact off Encore. Off-platform payments carry none of this protection.
11. Limits
Encore’s responsibility for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not responsible for courier delays, for a dress that does not fit, or for a change of heart. This agreement is governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada.
12. Changes
When this agreement changes we publish a new version. Your order is governed by the version you accepted, and that version and the date are recorded on your receipt.
